In Remembrance of Me

This weekend, my daughter Camila stayed with her maternal grandparents, but a super interesting thing happened with me and my wife Yokasta: Every moment and situation, one of us said something that Camilla would say if she was present... we even imitated her voice and gestures. It was our way to miss her.

Did you know that one of the things Jesus asked us to do was to actively remember Him? Did you know that you and I are responsible for keeping fresh the memory of what Jesus did and said?

19 And when He had taken some bread and given thanks, He broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” 20 And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying,“This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in My blood.

This passage impress me. Jesus is not only doing a ceremony as an illustration, He is establishing a new covenant and the future repetition of this ceremony would serve as a reminder for generations to come.

Look how interesting: Jesus breaks the bread as a symbol of the way in which His body would be mistreated and says, "Do this in remembrance of me". Then, take the cup as a symbol of His blood and says, "This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in My blood"... Period. It's beautiful and profound. It's like Jesus is saying, "We make a new deal. My body will be broken because of you. Break your body for others. My blood will be poured out for you... SO YOURS DOESN'T HAVE TO BE SHED. You can become my hands and feet through acts of compassion and love, BUT the only one who saves it's me... The one and only Savior it's... ME. "

We love to "sacrifice" for others in unhealthy relationships and  we say we do it for the "God's love"... We love to take attribution that are Jesus', ignoring the things that God IS asking us to do. How many times we extend our arms judging, but we don't extend our arms hugging.

When was the last time you submitted your body and desires to act in a way that Jesus was remembered? When was the last time you did something that gave glory to God and not you? Are such actions part of your normal life? Is your life decorated with acts of love and mercy that shows people portraits of Jesus? Do people see Jesus in your actions? When was the last time you did ________________ "in remembrance of me"?

Let's make a deal: Today perform an act of love... Something you see in the Bible that Jesus would do. Give food to someone. Give someone clothing. Pray for someone on the street. Lend your ear to someone to talk. Help a senior citizen to cross the street. Stop and help a troubled person on the street. Smile and be friendly with someone who mistreat you. Grab the phone and call someone you haven't talk to in a while. Forgive someone. Have dinner with an "enemy" and restore the relationship. If they ask why you are doing what you are doing, just say: "Because Jesus would have done the same".

And when you do... please, just as you would take time to copy someones Facebook status or share a photo... take the time to share your testimony in the group Just Saying on Facebook.

Our enemy can destroy scattered Christians... but can never stop a Church spread throughout the world performing acts of love and service... "In Remembrance of me".

I hope you don't leave me alone... or rather, I hope you don't let Jesus keep doing all the work.

JUST SAYING!!!

God bless you,
