A really "negative" couple, uses a pregnancy pregnancy test with little hope. To their surprise the result is positive. With questions, they decide to go to a hospital for pregnancy test with a new computer that allowed it without help from a doctor... After a few minutes, the computer gave a message: "Congratulations. You have 5 weeks of pregnancy." The woman complied, but went to the bathroom and took a second urine sample for a second pregnancy test. After waiting, the computer printed a new message: "Congratulations. You have 5 weeks of Pregnancy"... Totally incredulous, she asked her husband to take a sample of his urine. Confused husband goes into the bathroom and out, he meets his wife who mixed both samples. Then the woman asked him to take a drop of oil from the car engine and mixed with the samples... The husband is reluctant, but she insists... With this new "sample", the woman returned to the computer to perform the third test. By depositing the sample, the computer took a little longer, but eventually printed the following message: "Your car engine needs service. Your husband has high cholesterol and you are PREGNANT, PREGNANT, PREGNANT! "
He who didn't understood the joke, can write me on private to avoid shame... Who did understood, yet didn't like... Well... I'm sorry... but the reality is that it has a great lesson: Focusing your mind on "negative" or non-productive things, just cause fatigue, frustration and the same result... have a bitterness.
At this point I must clarify that I am not a positivist ... I am an evangelical Christian and I believe in God. I pray, read and study the Bible, I have faith and trust in God, but I am also pro-activist. I think that a lot of what God wants and can do, lies in our attitude and desire to grow, because God doesn't force anyone. And finally, I struggle to have a "positive" attitude because I was advised by the Apostle Paul in the Bible:
"Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things."
In short, we are advised to keep our mind constantly thinking of God. So I think we can learn a lot in the continuation of this series.
The character of "The Wizard of Oz" story for today is the interesting Scarecrow, who wants to have a brain. Again and again, we see "poor" Scarecrow, scaring not only birds, but scaring responsibility, fellowship, opportunities to serve... because he didn't had a brain and, though it isn't justifiable, this character is not entirely wrong.
Look at these alarming statistics based on medical testing:
- A drug is 70% more effective in patients who believe they can be heal.
- In our world, 80% of the thoughts are "negative".
- From 14 things we say to our children, only 1 is positive.
- The person with a "positive attitude" live an average of 10 years more of that who lives in complaint and "negativity."
- A Moment with a "negative thinking", leaving the immune system in an delicate state for hours.
- The "negative thinking" has the ability to damage memory and learning neurons.
Do you already understand why are you so dumb? LOL... Just kidding... Although statistics are not... Do you see why you stay sick? Do you see why we have such bad relationships? Do you see why we live less? Do you see why we have spiritual amnesia and forget what God has already done?
The same thing happens with our friend the Scarecrow, his mind is so clouded with his problem, that, even knowing of the existence of the "Wizard of Oz" and knowing that supposedly he has the power to fulfill his deepest desire, he just can't think... presumably because of his missing brain... but, anyway, spending all his energy and thoughts on the "lack of a brain"... To "resolve" his problem, "The Great Deceiver Wizard of Oz" gives the Scarecrow a diploma and with that our poor friend manages to calm down.
Having the mind busy on the wrong thing, causes us being wrongly busy; and unfortunately, in our churches we have been told that drastically changing our behavior, will make a significant change. Religion is to change the behavior hoping to change the mind. Gospel is to change the mind and life being changed in the process. Modifying behavior helps, but the heart is only changed by the Gospel of Jesus, which is power of God to all who believes. (Romans 1:16 NIV)
"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is —his good, pleasing and perfect will."
To be a true disciple of Jesus... You will need a clear mind, free from the thoughts that our enemy lays on us. We aim to receive "diplomas", personal merits or achievements that make us feel that our mind is well ... We have build a religion based on stress and worry, just to become unable to rest.
"Now before the Feast of the Passover, Jesus knowing that His hour had come that He would depart out of this worldto the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end. 2 During supper, the devil having already put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, to betray Him, 3 Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands, and that He had come forth from God and was going back to God, 4 *got up from supper, and *laid aside His garments; and taking a towel, He girded Himself.
5 Then He poured water into the basin, and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded."
What prepared Jesus for being abandon, was knowing... What prepared Jesus for being betrayed, was to knowing... What prepared Jesus for being crucified, was not only the prayer in Gethsemane... was a clear mind form the beginning... and know ... What "diploma" are you pursuing? What occupies your mind? Are not you happy with how you're living? Renew your mind... Fill it with new thoughts... Thoughts of God... and you'll find yourself living a supernatural life. Do not waste time, because even though mixing the sample, the result will always be the same: You're pregnant with dreams and plans of God ... Do not waste time and TRANSFORM YOUR MIND.
Is that all we need? NO... Tomorrow we'll continue with "The Tin Man: New Heart"...
